This smoky glass plate with deep ridges and gold painted accents is a cool piece of Chicago history for any Chicago Cubs sports fan as well as anyone interested in Chicago's rich past.

Wonder why the Chicago Cubs logo is on this plate? The Chicago Athletic Association and the Chicago Cubs are forever tied together in history: The Chicago Athletic Association was founded in 1890 by some of Chicago’s wealthiest men, like Marshall Field, Cyrus McCormick and A.G. Spalding. William Wrigley was also a member. He bought the Cubs in 1915 and the baseball team adopted the CAA’s crest as its logo, forever binding the two properties. The CAA was a private men's club and remained so for all of the 20th century. Their home at the time, is now a very significant piece of Chicago property, located in the posh Madison Avenue area of downtown Chicago. The majestic 250-foot Venetian Gothic tower
